5. MAYA :-

               This movie Starring Nayanthara in the lead role got huge  appreciation from the audience for its silence yet intense screenplay and horror scenes that really worked out very well. Made with  a budget of 10 crores it managed to run for 100 days and collected more than 50 crores in box-office and was declared as a blockbuster and had set standards for the ghost movies that were yet to release.

4. DEMONTE COLONY:-

                                The movie that released in the same year as Maya(2015) having Arulnithi in the lead role in fact had a very less expectations before the movie release as it had a completely new crew of actors but once the movie released because of its positive reviews from its first show this film had a very good theatrical run.The main reason for success of this film was different story-line with very good screenplay and an unexpected climax.Made with a budget of 3 crores this film managed to earn 25 crores in box-office.

3. KANCHANA:-

                   The second ghost movie for Raghava Lawrance  after Muni came in 2011.From the day this movie released it had sent a bench mark for horror-comedy genre.With the perfect blend of  comedy and horror scenes this movie was a blockbuster and later 2 parts of the movie were also released which collected 100 crores each. Made with a budget of 10 crores the move easily grossed over 50 crores in collections.

2. CHANDRAMUKHI:-

                     The most famous movie of its genre starring SUPERSTAR RAJINIKANTH in lead role broke all box office collections till that date.The film which was already made in Kannada and Malayalam saw the best run in Tamil.The main reason was for comedy of Vadivelu sir and style of superstar as the movie had very less horror films and this movie was such a movie that it ran for 1 year in many theaters in Tamilnadu a record which is yet and can't be broken in future.

1. YAVARUM NALAM:-

                                 One of the most underrated Tamil horror-thriller movie starring Madhavan in the lead role .This movie actually released in 2009 could be considered to be a decent hit as it made 13 crore in box office but I think  is very less for such a good movie.I wont want to spoil by revealing the story but the way the script has been shown on screen especially the connectivity of scenes create a  great boost watching it and keeps us engaged without a dull moment.For a surprise this movie was directed by 24 director Vikram Kumar. If you haven't watched this movie I would recommend you to go and watch it.
